LOWER MILFORD TWP., Pa. — The former Dan Schantz farm and greenhouse complex may be turning a new leaf, as it was sold for $4.5 million in an auction Wednesday.

The former greenhouse and wholesale outlet at 8025 Spinnerstown Road, Zionsville, became available after the company went out of business late last year.

Max Spann of Max Spann Auctions, who oversaw the sale, said the identity of the auction winner is not yet public, but the sale would be closed within 50 days.

He said the new owners are professional greenhouse operators, and that, because of legal easements, it would be difficult to do anything else on that property.

Advertised as a "major greenhouse operation on 95+/- acres of preserved farmland" with 16 acres under glass, the facilities also include production, warehousing, equipment storage capabilities.

Paterson’s Art Factory to go up for auction in U.S. Bankruptcy Court sale | Paterson Times

The Art Factory, a prominent creative center in Paterson that has fostered a dynamic community of artists, musicians, and creators, will be auctioned on Nov. 26 by Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Company in an auction ordered by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Located at 60-70 Spruce Street, the Art Factory spans 230,000 square feet across 21 buildings in the Great Falls Industrial Park. Situated on 4.78 acres along Paterson Great Falls National Park, the property is 12 miles from New York City and minutes from Interstate 80. Originally built in the mid-1840s as the American Hemp Company, the site gradually transformed into a cultural hub and was most recently home to the Art Factory, featuring artist studios, workshops, event spaces, and performance venues.

Nicknamed “Hollywood East,” the campus has hosted major film and television productions, including The Irishman, West Side Story, and Doctor Strange, drawing attention for its versatile facilities and unique setting.

“A hub of the American industrial revolution, Paterson has long been a beacon of creativity and innovation,” said Max Spann Jr., president of Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Company. “We expect this auction to attract a diverse group of bidders considering all the possibilities the property offers. We’re excited to see how the next chapter of the Art Factory unfolds.”

Why Sell Your Property at Auction?

Logo border for website big

Auction sales in real estate have seen a steady increase in recent years, with more buyer engagement from owner-occupant consumers. There are four reasons why selling via auction could be the right choice: there's no ceiling in a competitive market, auctions save time and money in slow markets, auctions attract serious buyers, and owners can know the exact date their property will sell. By utilizing auction platforms, sellers can avoid high carrying costs like mortgage payments, taxes, and home maintenance.

Tiny N.J. town to auction off 78 residential lots to make ends meet - nj.com

Penns Grove borough government may be short on money, but it’s long on property.

The economically depressed Salem County enclave surrounded on three sides by Carneys Point and the Delaware River on the fourth gets nearly a half million dollars a year in state aid just to help it cover its bills.

But the borough also has an outsized real estate portfolio. Of the approximately 1,800 parcels in the 1-square-mile community, the local government owns about one in every 18 of them.

This month, the borough is hoping to even things out by putting most of its estate up for auction. It contracted with Max Spann Real Estate and Auction Company to unload 78 properties from its portfolio, selling them to homeowners or investors in an effort to get them back on the tax rolls. The sale, originally scheduled for March 1, was pushed to March 15, and runs through March 18.
